We're past the halfway point of the 2025-26 Premier League season, and the title race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years. Here's where every team stands and what the table tells us about the rest of the season.

The title race

Arsenal and Manchester City are separated by just 2 points at the top. Arsenal have been the more consistent team — they've lost only twice all season — but City have games in hand due to their Champions League commitments. Liverpool are 5 points back in third, still mathematically in it but needing both teams above them to slip.

Arsenal's strength has been their defense. They've conceded just 18 goals in 28 games, which is the best defensive record in the league by a significant margin. Saliba and Gabriel have been immense, and David Raya has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world this season.

City's strength has been their attack. Haaland has 22 league goals already, and he's on pace to break the single-season record of 36 that he set in 2022-23. De Bruyne has been healthy all season, which makes City's midfield almost impossible to contain.

The top 4 battle

The fight for Champions League places is intense. Arsenal and City are locked in for the top 2. Liverpool are in 3rd. The 4th spot is being contested by Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Chelsea.

Newcastle have been solid all season — Isak has 16 goals, and their defense is well-organized under Eddie Howe. Aston Villa have been inconsistent but have the quality to go on a run. Chelsea are the wildcard — they have the most expensive squad in the league but can't seem to find consistency.

My prediction: Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Newcastle for the top 4. Villa and Chelsea will fall just short.

The relegation battle

The bottom of the table is brutal this season. Three teams are going down, and at least six teams are genuinely at risk. The current bottom three are Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton, but Wolves, Everton, and Crystal Palace are all within touching distance.

Ipswich have struggled with the step up from the Championship. Their squad lacks Premier League quality, and they've been unable to keep clean sheets. Leicester's return to the Premier League has been rocky — they've improved since January, but they might have left it too late.

Southampton are the most likely to go down. They've won just 3 games all season, and their goal difference is the worst in the league. It would take a miracle for them to survive.

Key fixtures remaining

The title could be decided on April 12 when Arsenal host Manchester City at the Emirates. If Arsenal win, they'll open up a 5-point gap with 6 games to play. If City win, they'll go top. It's the biggest game of the season.

Other key fixtures: Liverpool vs. Arsenal (April 19), Manchester City vs. Newcastle (April 26), and the final day of the season on May 24, when all 10 games kick off simultaneously.

The Premier League never disappoints. Buckle up for the final 10 games.
